# Summer Shibari Intensives

![Summer Shibari Intensives](https://escueladeshibari.es/images/2026/verano.webp)

During the summer, each week is built around a specific theme and offers two ways to explore it.

**From Tuesday to Thursday**, we offer **private sessions** for individuals, couples, or small groups, with only one booking accepted per session.

Enjoy complete privacy and a learning experience tailored to your pace, goals, and interests. The weekly theme serves as a guiding framework rather than a fixed curriculum.

**From Friday to Sunday**, we run a **group workshop** focused on that week's theme.

The program has been designed as a progressive journey, but each workshop is complete in itself, with its own introduction, development, and conclusion. You can join any week without having attended previous workshops.

All activities are open to every level of experience and physical ability. No previous shibari experience is required.

Prices vary depending on the type of activity and the number of participants. Please check availability before booking.

**Advance booking is required.** All materials are provided at the dojo.

## (July 15–19) Square, Triangle, Circle: Principles of Body Movement in Shibari

**蓮始開 — *Hasu hajimete hiraku* — The first lotus flowers bloom**

Before applying rope in shibari, we first need to understand and work with the body. This week focuses on that principle, exploring movement as a technical foundation of the practice.

Our approach is built around three geometric concepts: the **square** as a reference for stability, the **triangle** as a framework for intention and direction, and the **circle** as the expression of movement.

We work with the body before the rope, covering posture and balance, activation and grip, and movement management from anatomical and biomechanical perspectives.

The goal is for both partners to develop a deeper ability to read, understand, and adapt during a session by learning the body mechanics behind these concepts. Applied correctly, they allow techniques and ties to be adapted safely and effectively to each individual and every situation.

The workshop covers posture, activation, grip, and movement management based on anatomy and sound technical principles.

Suitable for couples with or without previous shibari experience.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (July 22–26) *Kubi Shibari*: Joints and Erotic Breath Play

**桐始結花 — *Kiri hajimete hana o musubu* — The paulownia trees begin to bear fruit**

Basic shibari safety guidelines identify the wrists, ankles, and neck as areas that require particular care. In Japanese, the word *kubi* groups these regions within the same anatomical category.

This workshop uses that concept to explore what these three areas have in common, the techniques that allow them to be worked with safely, and their erotic potential when approached with sound technical knowledge. The aim is to integrate them into a session in an informed and conscious way.

The focus is not on specific patterns or aesthetics, but on understanding the principles that make this type of practice both safe and appropriate within responsible erotic shibari.

Designed for couples who want to deepen their practice on a solid technical foundation.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (July 28 – August 2) Safety for the Bound Partner

**土潤溽暑 — *Tsuchi uruōte mushi atsushi* — Moisture fills the earth and the air**

The **#MSAFE** method is based on a simple principle: in shibari, both partners share active responsibility throughout the session. This workshop examines that responsibility from the perspective of the person being tied.

The course focuses on three key areas. First, applied anatomy: understanding how the body responds under tension, recognising warning signs, and interpreting them in real time. Second, rope literacy: moving from a passive role to becoming an active participant who understands what is happening and can respond appropriately. Third, session management: exploring the emotional and cognitive aspects present in every shibari interaction and learning how to navigate them with confidence and sound judgement.

You may attend either as a couple or individually. The workshop is adapted to each participant's experience and skill level.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (August 5–9) *Nawasuji*: Managing the Body Through Rope

**大雨時行 — *Taiu tokidoki furu* — Heavy rains fall frequently**

*Nawasuji* approaches rope not as the centre of the practice, but as the medium through which body movement and session management techniques are applied effectively.

Throughout the workshop, we'll explore both structured, precise approaches and more fluid, adaptive methods, learning how to combine them naturally according to the dynamics of each session.

Rather than memorising patterns, you'll learn to use rope as a practical tool and handle it with confidence, ease, and personal style.

Suitable for couples of all experience levels.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (August 12–16)

**涼風至 — *Suzukaze itaru* — A cool breeze arrives**

 **To be announced.**

## (August 19–23) Safety in *Gote*-Style Harnesses

**寒蝉鳴 — *Higurashi naku* — Evening cicadas begin to sing**

The most widely used torso harness. The most feared. The least understood.

This workshop explores a variety of *gote* configurations, from simple single-rope versions to Yagami Ren's elaborate *Kannuki*. We'll examine their technical applications, the specific risks associated with each, what distinguishes them from one another, and how to adapt them safely to different bodies and physical abilities without compromising their intended function.

The emphasis is not on the finished shape as an aesthetic result, but on developing the technical understanding needed to apply these harnesses safely and make full use of their potential within responsible erotic shibari.

Suitable for couples of all experience levels.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (August 26–30) Body Dynamics in Suspension

**蒙霧升降 — *Fukaki kiri matō* — A dense mist descends**

This workshop explores suspension from an erotic perspective while recognising its physical demands and technical complexity.

We'll study how gravity, tension, angles, and lines of pull influence both physical sensations and safety. The focus is on the essential body mechanics that support every suspension: posture, balance, tension, activation, and movement vectors. Rather than memorising positions, you'll develop the ability to read the body and understand how it responds under load.

The dynamic between the person tying and the person being tied remains central throughout the workshop, with both partners actively involved in managing what happens during the suspension.

Designed for couples with a solid technical foundation in shibari.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**

## (September 2–6) Safe Transitions

**天地始粛 — *Tenchi hajimete samushi* — The summer heat begins to fade**

A shibari session is built through movement. Positions change, the body shifts, and tension is continuously redistributed. Managing this process smoothly and safely is a technical skill in its own right, and it forms the focus of the final week of the summer program.

We'll work on tension management, rope handling, and movement mechanics, applying them in a continuous and coherent way so that transitions become natural, efficient, and safe for both partners.

The workshop includes both floor work and suspension.

The emphasis is on the quality of movement as an expression of genuine technical skill and conscious session management.

Designed for couples with a solid technical foundation in shibari.

**Advance booking required. All materials are provided at the dojo.**
